Travel Trend: Winter Glamping

It's clear: the trend towards nature and outdoor experiences as well as towards more sustainability will continue in the coming winter months. So those who prefer to spend their holidays out in nature during the colder months of the year and at the same time don't want to forego comfort and cosiness will get their money's worth with winter glamping. The great thing about it is that after a long walk in the fresh air, holidaymakers can really make themselves comfortable in the whirlpool, sauna or in front of the wood-burning stove. Here are hyggelige accommodations to feel good in France and Italy:

L'Alsace: New forest camp since October 2021 in French Alsace

Almost on your doorstep: In a hilly landscape between the Rhine and the Vosges mountains and not far from Stuttgart, Karlsruhe or Freiburg im Breisgau, the young tourism company Nutchel opened the Waldcamp L'Alsace in the French Alsace at the end of October. "Switch off to reconnect with yourself and others" is the mission statement of this exceptional glamping concept. The aim is to reconcile comfort, a return to the essentials, closeness to nature and an ultimate hygge feeling. The result: a forest camp where a total of 37 cosy cabins blend perfectly with the surrounding nature and invite you to a special micro-adventure with family and friends.

Especially cosy in winter: The Tiny Houses, designed from natural materials, each have their own wood-burning stove for heating, lighting with oil lamps as well as candles, and some cabins are also equipped with a hot tub on the terrace. For even more relaxation and cosiness in the forest camp, there are open fireplaces and two communal saunas with an outdoor pool. In order to be able to really switch off during your stay, there is deliberately no Wi-Fi in the cabins. Remarkable: During the construction, the aim was to have as gentle an impact as possible on the existing ecosystem. The previously fallow land was revitalised and the place was given back its original character thanks to extensive reforestation.

Orlando in Chianti: Winter camping in Tuscany

Only an hour's drive south of Florence and surrounded by Tuscan forests and vineyards, the Orlando in Chianti resort of the Vacanze col cuore group provides a winter glamping feeling. The resort has been completely redecorated for the colder season, and in addition to cosy furs and Christmas ornaments, the entire resort shines in a sea of fairy lights. A special highlight is the Nordic-style wellness area with Finnish sauna, hot tubs, a whirlpool in an illuminated igloo and a massage tent. The resort's own restaurant serves Italian delicacies in the morning and evening, and the heated accommodation leaves nothing to be desired. Especially the lavishly renovated original Airstream from the 1970s and a real American school bus converted into a cosy camper van make for great wow moments here.
